Musings of a post-show artist

August 16, 2012

All the work is hung. My studio is messy and empty.

I sold one piece to a man who seemed nice.

Now what?

I can sit around waiting for people to buy my art, but no one will. If I advertise my art with “sale ends now!” slogans and $ signs attached I’ll feel like a sell-out (an artist who makes art for the buyer). Shouldn’t good art sell itself? The goal is to find good homes for my beautiful beings - Lessons: Insides Out and Conversing with Rectangles, but I don’t know where to find those good homes. Did I mention that I’m not a sales person? Especially when it comes to selling my own art… Its like sacrificing my children to the gods.

So here I am deep in the artists dilemma. All this art with nowhere to hang. Unless…… unless a few brave souls with money in their pockets make friends with my work…. Are you that brave soul? Will you make friends?
